I’m Jose. I build and run production platforms on Microsoft Azure. App Service, Container Apps, Functions, Key Vault, networking, and IaC with Terraform. My focus is reliability, security-by-default, and making infrastructure legible to the teams that depend on it.
Over the years I’ve learned that the hard part isn’t just the tech. It’s clarity, ownership, and turning good intentions into repeatable systems.
What I Focus On
- Designing internal platforms that other engineers actually want to use
- Secret management, identity, and access control that scales without becoming a liability
- Choosing the right Azure compute for the workload, not the one that looks simplest in a demo
- Terraform as the system of record for infrastructure decisions
- Making CI/CD pipelines something the team trusts, not something they work around
What This Blog Is
This is my notebook. I write about what I’ve seen work, what broke, and what I’d do differently. Expect notes, checklists, and the occasional “I can’t believe this fixed it” moment.
If you work in Azure infrastructure or platform engineering, you’ll probably recognize some of these problems.
Why Gordo?
I’ve been called Gordo since I was born. In middle school my friends heard my sister call me Gordo, and it never really went away. I tried to fight it initally, but gave up by high school, and by college it was just my name. It’s also what my grandparents always called me, so now I prefer it.
